Legal Documents

To undergo a civil marriage in Cyprus, couples are required to submit specific documents and meet certain criteria. The initial prerequisite involves providing valid identification or travel documents, such as a passport. Additionally, proof of eligibility to marry is essential, and this can take the form of an official confirmation from the relevant authority in your country, like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In simpler terms, you need an officially stamped and signed document affirming that you are not currently married. It's crucial that this document is not more than three months old from the scheduled date of your civil wedding.

All paperwork related to legal divorce, certificates for divorces, or certificates of widowhood must be appropriately authenticated by a competent authority in your country, whether it be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a licensed attorney, solicitor, notary, etc. This authentication should confirm the document's authenticity and validity during the application period for a civil marriage in Cyprus.
